Welcome to the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir

how could i have failed to link to the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir?

One of the members of the Glen Eira Choir is in the RMP and they're doing the Verdi Requiem Tuesday in the Melbourne Town Hall.

Rosamund Illing is one of the soloists and it would be nice to get the image of her in the feathered cloak (from the Puccinifest Turandot last year) out of my head. Deborah Humble is the contralto, and I haven't herad of the tenor or bass, but i'm sure they're excellent as well.

DIY Messiah

For those who like to sing there is a Sing-It_Yourself Messiah at
I've received an email about an instant Messiah at Boronia Uniting Church. Details are apparently as follows.

Sunday May 1 at 2:00

Colleen Arnott - Soprano
Judith O'Shea - Alto
Michael Try - Tenor
Graham Ford - Bass
Ken Peard - Organ
Malcolm Campbell - Conductor

I can't actually find a Boronia Uniting Church via the White pages, or any other mention of this gig, so probably try and ring and confirm first if you don't live nearby.

New, with added calendar

you can find a calendar of events here. I might link back from the calendar to the blog entries, not sure how it's going to be arranged just yet.

Melbourne Autumn Music Festival: Final Concert

The Melbourne Autumn Music Festival: Final Concert is Bach's St Matthew Passion.

This appears to be a bit of a flavour of the month in this part of the world, with a performance recently in Dunedin (NZ) and another earlier this year in Melbourne by the Victorian College of the Arts and the German Lutheran church.

This production has a female in the alto role.

Choral@Montsalvat -- Faye Dumont Singers, Inc.

It appears that the Montsalvat website doesn't have updated details for this year's event, however here's a flyer by way of the Faye Dumont Singers:Choral@Montsalvat -- Faye Dumont Singers, Inc.

from 12pm to 4:45pm on Sunday May 1.

About 12 choirs as far as i can make out. Enough for even the most dedicated Choral junkie.
